Creating a 2000+ metre smallholding

It takes a skilled approach and knowledge of animal requirements to turn open agricultural land into a smallholding that is both safe and effective. We at PB Forestry provide customised fencing systems to support everything from animal enclosures to equestrian facilities. To know how we assisted a private client in transforming a barren land into a fully furnished smallholding with more than 2,000 meters of fencing for horses, pigs, sheep, goats, and poultry, read our case study below.

The Challenge

PB Forestry was hired by a private customer to turn barren arable land into a fully operational smallholding for raising livestock. In order to fulfill the special needs of sheep, goats, poultry, and horses, the project included building paddocks, pig enclosures, chicken runs, and a manège. Due to the size of this shift, it was necessary to construct about 2000 meters of sturdy wire and post fencing to guarantee safe borders and effective land usage in all animal zones.

How PB Forestry Provided Solution?

Using our experience in agricultural infrastructure and fencing, PB Forestry delivered a complete fencing solution designed around the client’s farming needs. We installed wire fencing for added perimeter security, and post and rail systems suited for horses. Enclosures for sheep and goats were designed with precise spacing and tensioning to ensure safe containment. We also integrated practical features such as feed access points and secure gates to support efficient daily operations and long-term usability of the outdoor space.

Result

The bare land got turned into a safe, useful smallholding that can accommodate both equestrian and cattle production. Now, more than 2,000 meters of high-quality agricultural fencing securely outlines outside areas for operations and animals. This project demonstrates PB Forestry’s capacity to create and erect durable, functional enclosures that satisfy client needs and animal welfare requirements.
